I have always been in awe of the artists, makers and craftsmen of the world. There is magic in the act of creating objects, and I am honored to be part of the tradition of crafting things by hand. The energy, time and struggle that goes into personally making something is reflected in a finished piece in a way that a mass produced item cannot hope to match. When you transfer something you have made to another person, you are giving them some of your energy, a piece of your self.
I want my work to have an underlying story. I always have a story in mind while I am creating a piece but it is one I will not reveal in words. I love to watch the work weave it's own individual story for each viewer. My work is meant to be touched, held, and even played with. I am not a big fan of art that is too precious to be interacted with on a physical level. My greatest compliment is when people spontaneously reach out to touch a piece I have made.
My professional training and work in the field of architecture has had a strong influence on my work. The wonderful use of line and form in the Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Arts and Crafts movements together with my love of nature and interest in the Victorian Futurism aesthetic of Steampunk art provide endless opportunities for exploration.
